Sewing Machines Are Back And Are Cool!
Throughout the passing years, the skilled profession of sewing is one that has fallen by the wayside. Long gone are the days when it was actually required in school curriculums, namely, in the home economics classes. The current results, fewer males and females knowing just how to wind a bobbin (let alone simple hems for slacks). Up until a few years back, the glue gun seems to almost replace sewing. Many people thought the hot glue adhesive could solve any type of DIY sewing problems. It was only after coming to know and learning the hard way that hot glue guns can’t replace the tried and true needle and thread.
Like many “old school” skills and craftsmanship, sewing is actually gaining steam once again as well as becoming mainstream once more. I personally learned to sew at a young age and was instantly addicted! Though I actually like the skill-set of being able to “hand sew”, I needed to have the more robust and mechanical sewing machine. My “hand sewing” couldn’t keep up with my ideas to create anything I dreamed of!
